Brooke Ayton is a watercolourist based in the Mornington Penninsula, Victoria. Brooke creates aerial landscape paintings in watercolour, inspired by the naturally occurring patterns of water. She lived in the Sutherland Shire for a number of years where she focused on the ocean and the rockpools that grace this area. Brooke’s watercolours make use of masking techniques to guide the pigment in certain areas, while allowing organic movement of the medium in other parts of the image. She is also interested in the scale of the human form in relation to the natural environment, and usually includes tiny human figures in her compositions.
